Ande Hicks aka Mac Dre is, no doubt, a rap legend. He first came on the scene back in the late 80's,id say 89-90 with his debut album Young Black Brotha..an instant classic if you ask me. An artist under the Young Black Brotha Records umbrella, Mac Dre quickly put his city of Vallejo on the map, the Crest to be exact..Songs like "Too Hard for the Radio", "Stay on my Toes", "California Livin" and "Im in Motion", just to name a few, made the album a neighborhood banger....backed by the "once" super producer Khyree, the album was a display of hood livin, gangsta pimpin, and overall having fun..
over the years we have seen Mac Dre transform into many different characters..from the intelligent game infested Mac..to the pill poppin stripper pimpin Dre.. but theres no doubt about it, every angle he came from was dope....He had the gift to recreate hiself over and over again..which alot of artist today dont have the ability to do...Im more of an ol school fan myself, but i enjoyed everything Mac Dre had to offer..he was truely an entertainer...he could make you laugh one with one line, then make you think about what your doing with your life the next..
After a couple years behind bars, Mac Dre hit the bay Area music scene like he had never left..droppin the Rompilation, Stupid Doo Doo DUmb, Rapper gone Bad, Heart of a Gangsta Tongue of Pimp, Mad Dre is the Name, and Its Not what you Say, Its how You Say It..this was the post jail Dre, real hard core rap, lots of game, and even more pimpin...then he made his transition to Thizzle Washington, the pill poppin president of the Yay..this was when he made his biggest impact, basically pushin the Hyphy movement to the forefront...he had everyone on pills and drank, wearin stunna shades, dressin retro, and jus not givin a fuck! He dropped The Geneie of the Lamp and Ronald Dregan on the same day..wow..and dat was before Nelly had the idea. At this point Mac Dre really had the Bay poppin, Thizz was on the rise, Treal Tv was the most popular dvd, and his music was heard everywhere from Canada all the way down to Mexico, beleive me..i was there..
Unfortunately at the climax of his career, Mac Dre was gunned down in KC on Nov 1st 2004 after doing a show..It was a sad day in music, especially for the people in the Bay...we had lost a major player on our team, and the loss was felt immediately...artist started poppin up, tryin to wear the shoes of Dre, duplicating and immatating, but none was even close to filling the void..Mac Dre was a legend before he died..its just sad it takes a man like him to die for the Bay to get together and make a statement...if only Dre could be here now...we've seen every side of Dre, the intelligence, the ingnorance, the love , the hate, the good, the bad, and the ugly...but overall, every side of him was something we all enjoyed..and thats why Mac Dre is a legend..and this is how i pay my homage..the evolution of Mac Drizzay.....all damn dizzay!

If you havent heard about my man Deedot, you must be livin under a rock placed on the dark side of the moon...he's been doing his thing in the SF music scene for a good while now. Youve either been to a party and he was spinnin, or youve heard some of his distinctive production on some of your favorite upcoming artist..Hes a man of many hats, producer/engineer by day, DJ by night..and hes not one your top 40 dj's either, he keeps it real to his taste, might hear some ol school Tribe blended into some S.O.S Band..whatever he feels, he's gone spin it. He's got a tall list of work with many notable artists under his belt....Paulie Rhyme, Melina Jones, Wrekelect, Emassin, Kaz-Well, Navery just to name a few..he's also released some remix work like "American Dreamin", his own rendition of jay's American Gangster...and you didnt hear it from me, but i heard him and DeGo might be comin out with a collabo project..hhhmmmm very interesting...Dee is a very talented producer with a sound of his own..i describe it as West Coast funk mixed wit some underground soul..in other words..he got dat "shit" for YOU!..Trust me..and on top of that he's a Pro Tools wizzzzaaaard!!! dudes got some skills behind the board..my Favorite engineer by far..and ive worked with alot of them...you can catch deedot at tapevault studios layin some work down..or diggin in the crates gettin his fingertips dusty... check deedot out at myspace/deedot or follow him twitter/djdeedot ..this man is a humble cat, but dont take his kindness for weakness....some of yall producer cats need to focus on being more well rounded... like my man Deedot...he can do it all..

Youth Empowerment Festival

Today was a beautful day in SF, especially if you were in front of City Hall for the Youth Empowerent festival. Alot of groups came through to support the movement....They had plenty of good food and lots of activities for the young ones. They also had top notch entertainment, from Aztec and Samoan dancers, to Hip Hop acts such as San Quinn, Melina Jones, Ise lyfe, and your truely, BarNone..but the real show stopper was the Betta Betta Boys reppin the United Playas..talk bout killin the stage..they had it under control..the oldest one had to be 11!! they shocked the party..
They also had a kids jumper goin, a rock climbing wall, graf exhibits, and lots of prize give aways..It was a time for the youth to come together and show that they can hold their own. It was a great event and i was very happy to be a part of it..aint nothin like doin it for the kids..thanks to Fredmac & the Giants for lettin ya folx pull through and rock..Im looking forward to doing more events like this..it was a good time out..

EVOLUTION- of Kanye West

I cant deny it..Kanye is a musical genius, but over these past few years we've seen him develop from a pure Hip Hop acrobat..to an autotunic pop artist..and im not mad at that...change is always good as long as its forward proggress..But personally i like the older stuff much better..the soulful sound was undeniable.. He first made his mark on bean's "truth" joint, then he was on "this cant be life" (classic shit) and then he made a huge dent in the game with his production on the Blueprint(Jay's best album)..with songs like "H to the Izzo", "heart of the City" and of coarse "The Takeover" jus to name a few. When he came with the College Dropout Lp i was blown away..The whole shit was bangin! Songs like "Jesus Walks", "2 Words", "Get em High" and "Last Call"..shits was impressive..he dropped Late Registration and Graduation(his 2nd best effort) then he moved on to 808's & Heartbreak..which was cool, but not really my steez..the songs are deep and have some good content, but not my cup of tea..autotune really took over, and hes not the only one..maybe its a sign of the times..the world changes, and with it so does everything else...especially music. so im not mad at his change, quite frankly i think its ill..shows you that with growth comes comes change and development...so heres the transformation of Kanyeezee...

throw back moment - Guess Overalls

In a time of high fasion, buff guy shirts, skinny jeans and designer belts..i gotta bring it BACK one time....Im an 80's baby but a child of the 90's...if your the same as me, im sure your familar with Guess overalls. Only the coolest kids owned a pair...I remember when i asked my mom to buy me a pair and she was very hesitant cuz they were on the expensive side, so she bought me some "other ass brand" instead...it wasent the same..although they were made of the same material and had the same look..they didnt have that Guess stamp of approval on the front pocket..if you was wid da shit you know exactly what im talkin bout. Once i slipped on my first pair i felt like i was da Man!! finally had my swag up in the 4th grade.. tried to wear em everyday but moms wasent havin it.. not every 4th graders hygene was the best..but pls beleive they were on at least twice a week..i had a couple pairs, the dark denim..the black pair and of coarse the pin striped train conductor pair..HAHA you know what im talkin bout..theres a couple ways to rock them..both straps up..both straps down or my personal favorite..one strap up and one strap down..dummy dipped!! well heres my ode to the 90's...Guess Overalls were da shit!!!

Im bout to start showcasing producers on my blog, those who i think deserve the shine....so my first installment is my boy Antrax Beats..Straight outta my hometown of Daly City. Strong on the Reason 4 program, but vicious on the MPC 2500...not too mention his large collection of vinyl... Dudes been doing his thing for a while now. Hes the music man behind the Campaign, a group based outa DC & SF...along with Cbuk, Lansky, Icepick, Gus-tomer service, and yours truley BarNone, the Campaign Vol 1 brings that good hip hop feel..Hard ryhmes over soulful beats..cant lose! He was also the sound behind "da Shit" a song on my solo joint feat Noah O...Antrax is on his grizzly right now..im sure you'll be hearing more from him real soon.. All he needs is an ice cold tall can & sum good herb to take that trip to Antrax land...trust me..dude got IT!

12:49am On July 11th 2009 my son Jaykob Jordan Kuniki Offril was born.8lbs 6oz with a full head of hair..wonder where he gets it from??...The craziest, yet most beautiful experience ive ever had..They say your not really ready to have a child until it happens..and dats da TRUTH. Nothing can prepare you to witness the birth of your child..just to see the pain my girl was in, was already too much for me to handle..and i was just watching. We went to the hospital on thurs the 9th for a regular checkup and ended up stayin for the next 4 1/2 days... We found out during the checkup that her water bag had broke, so they admitted us to labor & delivery. After the water bag breaks you only have up to 36hrs to have the baby, or they face the risk of infection. Since she broke the bag first without any major contractions, we had to stay under the close eye of the nurses and doctors. They hooked her up to an ivy to induce the contractions and got the show on the road..41 hrs alter i was a proud father..WHOA!

After are stay at UCSF, we finally brought the lil man home on Monday...already fitted in Jordan shit..what can i say, im a big fan. The whole experience was very exhausting, but i learned alot.. i saw some of the craziest shit ever in the last few days... from a baby popping out of a spot that sposed to be mine, to them taking a knife to his package..dat shit was crucial!!..Even though ive lost a lot of sleep and feel like a zombie...the whole experience was priecless..its pretty much the begining of the rest of my life... youd be a fool not to experience these gifts God blesses us with. And now i have a greater respect for women, baby momas to be exact.. What i saw was WILD!! Foreals...until you see that, you aint seen shit..and my BM is a sav..no drugs needed for her...she did her thang all natural... so i give the utmost respect for mothers and what they go through... I used to a Rapper, bout now ima Father who raps...gives you alota shit to think about..gives you the motivation to grind harder, gives you the motivation to give your seed the life it deserves...and thats what i plan to do...so now i leave you with a quote of my own...
